Senior Transportation Planner

We are currently seeking an experienced Transportation Planner in our Wilmington, Delaware office. Assignments may include conducting a variety of transportation and land use studies including long range planning, climate resiliency studies for transportation infrastructure, freight plans, multimodal corridor studies, statewide and local policy initiatives, active transportation plans, as well as public engagement for complex transportation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting studies and design efforts, drafting reports
- Providing analysis on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory conformance of plans and special projects
- Meeting with internal and external stakeholders to build consensus and obtain project approvals
- Assisting clients with the development of policy and regulatory changes
- Identifying planning strategies and assessing scenarios
- Working with internal WRA counterparts to provide GIS-based data analysis and developing collateral materials that illustrate data in a user-friendly manner
- Facilitating public meetings/public involvement efforts, documenting meetings, and presenting information to clients and their boards regarding the outcomes and recommendations
- Working independently as well as part of a multi-discipline team to advance project goals and objectives
- Preparing proposals, developing work plans, and coordinating planning efforts to support project management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field required
- AICP certification or ability to obtain AICP certification within one year of date of hire
- Minimum of 16 years of advanced relevant transportation planning work experience
- Experience working with MPO’s or DOTs on transportation and land use policy and planning studies
- Experience with federal funding and grant applications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of federal and state, and metropolitan transportation policies and initiatives
- Innovative, detail-oriented, and experienced in highly visible projects
- Capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships at various levels and to resolve problems
- Ability to provide effective and efficient project management with a proven ability to meet established deadlines
- Knowledge of and aptitude for computer software program, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Internet applications
