Water Resource Engineer - Entry Level

We are currently seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources team in our Mechanicsburg, PA office.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include providing water resources design on transportation related projects. The primary duties will be to support Senior Project Environmental Scientists and Engineers in a variety of tasks in the field of water resources and environmental design. Responsibilities will include MS4 compliance, stream/outfall restoration, hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage, stormwater management (SWM), and erosion/sediment control (ESC) design.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 0-4 years of experience in a related field
  • Willingness to work outdoors in sometimes harsh conditions
  • Willingness to conduct field work that may require periodic overnight travel
  • Relevant internship/job experience related to stream restoration, MS4 compliance and/or transportation engineering
  • Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD preferred
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Desire to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions): 

This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include: 

  • Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, stream banks, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
  • Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing
  • Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 30 pounds
    and/or carting objects up to 30 lbs distances up to1 mile
    .  
  • Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 400 miles round trip.
  • Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements.
